Germany on Monday unveiled a new military aid package for Ukraine. The Federal Government updated in its official site the list of military aid supplied to Ukraine since the start of the three years of war with Russia.
Under the list, Germany will send three more Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft, 10,000 rounds of ammunition for them, as well as several drones, small arms and other military protective equipment.
The new military bundle to Kyiv includes ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks and for IRIS-T air defence systems, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 5,000 155 mm artillery shells, 2,000 122 mm shells, 8,000 120 mm mortar shells, first aid kits, protective equipment. In addition, Germany will supply Ukraine with dozens of drones, including 50 Vector reconnaissance drones, 30 Gereon RCS tracked drones, and 30 drone detection systems.
It should be noted that Germany is Ukraine’s largest military backer in Europe. According to Federal Government’s website, since the start of Ukraine’s full-fledged invasion on February 24, 2022, Germany has transferred materiel from Bundeswehr stocks to Ukraine with an estimated replacement value of approximately €5.2 billion. Moreover, more than 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have received military training in Germany, with cost of this training amounting to up to €282 million.
