Georgian President Salome Zourabischvili has discussed the recent parliamentary election held in her country during the meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump and French leader Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on December 8. The Georgian leader wrote about the meeting in her X social media platform.
"In depth discussion with Presidents Trump and Macron. Exposed the stolen election and extremely alarming repression against the people of Georgia. Underscored the need for a strong US. The Georgian people have a friend in Donald Trump. God bless the United States of America,” Zourabichvili shared on Platform X.
Zourabichvili also met with US billionaire tycoon Elon Musk, the owner of social network X. "Excellent exchange with Elon Musk about the situation in Georgia. I look forward to welcoming him in our country,” she remarked. Separately, she met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Zourabichvili is a strong critic of the ruling Georgian Dream party that won the majority of votes in the October 26 parliamentary election that has been deemed as not fair by the country's opposition and Georgia’s Western allies. The president is also the face of the pro-EU protest that were sparked against the government’s decision last month to suspend the country’s integration to the European Union. On Saturday, the leader and several members of Georgia’s main opposition party were briefly detained during the mass nationwide anti-government protests that continue for the second week, while one of the opposition parties claimed that its members were beaten during a police raid on its offices.
