n leader Ramzan Kadyorv has vowed to retaliate for the Ukrainian drone attack on Chechnya on Tuesday morning. In a video address circulated in Russian media on October 29, Kadyrov said there would be retribution “the likes of which Ukraine has not dreamt about” for the drone attack on the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermesk town in the republic early in the morning.
"They've bitten us - we will destroy them," Kadyrov said. Speaking about the Russian Special Forces University that was targeted by drones, Kadyrov said the institute had produced over 50,000 professional special service personnel who had played a key role in Russia’s war in Ukraine. He stressed that the military personnel prepared in the university had taken part in key military operations in places like Mariupol and Lichansk in Ukraine. The Chechen leader said investigation was underway into the drone attack on the republic. “The culprits will be punished. We will try to prevent this in the future,” Kadyrov added.
Ukraine has been targeting Russia with drones throughout the war. However, Tuesday attack on Gudermes marked the first case of Ukraine’s attack on Russia’s South Caucasus republic of Chechnya.
It should be noted that Ramzan Kadyrov has been an outspoken supporter of Putin’s war of invasion of Ukraine.
