Canada unveils new military aid package on anniversary of Russia-Ukraine war

Canada has unveiled a new military aid package to Ukraine to help Kyiv’s war efforts against Russia. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the military support package for Ukraine on February 24 on the third anniversary of the war.

The new military bundle includes 25 LAV ll armored personnel carriers; a landing system for the F-16; 4 F-16 simulators; ammunition, uniforms, first aid kits.

"This is in addition to millions of additional ammunition, equipment and first aid kits," Trudeau stated at the plenary session of the Support Ukraine Forum in Kyiv.

In addition, Canada will transfer the first part of aid to Ukraine in the amount of $3.52 billion, financed from the income of frozen Russian assets.

Sweden also announced plans to supply Ukraine with  air defence systems worth 1.2 billion Swedish kronor (about US$113 million). Another Scandinavian country Finland will contribute 4.5 million euros to support the second phase (2025-2027) of the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU).
