Amnesty report says Israel committed genocide in Gaza

Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing a genocide against Palestinians in Gaza in the latest report published on Thursday.
The organization’s report demonstrates that Israel has carried out acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza,” Amnesty International’s Secretary General Agnès Callamard said in a statement.
“Month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” Callamard went on saying. The Amnesty International said. According to the report, Israeli Defence Forces have committed at least three of the five acts banned by the 1948 Genocide Convention, including indiscriminate killings of civilians, causing serious bodily or mental harm.
Israel has rejected genocide allegations against it, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stating that “The report’s allegations of genocide and intentional harm are not only unfounded but also ignore Hamas’ violations of international law, including its use of civilians as human shields and its deliberate targeting of Israeli civilians.
"The deplorable and fanatical organization Amnesty International has once again produced a fabricated report that is entirely false and based on lies," Israel's Foreign Ministry said in a statement
Israel’s closest ally US also rejected genocide allegations levelled by Amnesty International, with State Department deputy spokesman Pate stating that these charges were “unfounded”. Earlier, the International Criminal Court accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister of committing war crimes in Gaza.
