Ukraine pledges to continue strikes on Russian-annexed Crimea

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said it’s a matter of time that his country will gain full control over the Russian-annexed Crimea Peninsula and the surrounding waters.
Addressing a security conference in Prague in a video address on Tuesday, Zelenskiy said: “The Russian (Black Sea) fleet is no longer able to operate in the western part of the Black Sea and is gradually fleeing from Crimea. And this is a historic achievement.” The Ukrainian leader stressed that the “illusion” of Russia’s domination of Crimea and the Black Sea had been shattered.
Ukraine has stepped up strikes on Crimea Peninsula annexed by Russia back in 2014 amid Kyiv’s nearly five-month-long counteroffensive against Russia.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk said that the Kerch Bridge illegally built by Russians in Crimea will certainly be destroyed. Pletenchuk said the Ukrainian command was waiting for the right moment to cut off the logistical tails of Crimea and turn it into an island.
Ukraine has attacked the Kerch Bridge at least twice in the past. The powerful explosion in October last year caused significant damage to the bridge. Yet another attack in July 2023 caused the destruction of two spans in the bridge. Head of Ukrainian Security Service Vasyl Maliuk confirmed the involvement of the security forces in both attacks.
