Zelenskiy hails Ukraine’s defence industry built since start of war with Russia

Ukraine has developed an entirely new defense industry since the start of Russia’s full-fledged invasion in 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday.

In a message published on his official Facebook page, Zelenskiy highlighted the wide range of domestically produced military capabilities now in place—from missiles and unmanned systems to interceptor technologies, strike and naval drones, reconnaissance tools, artillery, ammunition, armored vehicles, and robotic platforms. He described these as symbols of Ukraine’s strength, forged through the hardships of war, and as proof of the country’s determination to defend freedom, justice, and independence. According to him, these weapons represent not only technical precision and long-range capability but also the means to secure peace.

Zelenskiky noted that the day honors the professionals behind these achievements—those working in Ukraine’s defense manufacturing sector and broader military-industrial complex—who play a central role in building and sustaining this strength.

The president stressed that within just four years, Ukraine has established a modern defense industry that is large in scale, highly effective, and notably advanced. He expressed gratitude to everyone contributing to the sector and praised their efforts in strengthening the country’s security.

It’s worth noting that a central feature of Ukraine’s military-defence transformation has been the rise of unmanned systems. Ukraine has become particularly known for its extensive use and domestic production of drones, ranging from small reconnaissance units to long-range strike systems and naval drones capable of targeting assets in the Black Sea. These technologies are not only cost-effective but also adaptable, allowing Ukrainian forces to respond quickly to changing battlefield conditions.
