Ukraine fires US-supplied ATACMS missile at Russian military targets

Ukraine launched strikes on Russian command and logistic sites in eastern and southeastern Ukraine on Tuesday, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.

The attacks targeted command posts, ammunition warehouses, logistic hubs and repair facility and included the use of US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System, known as ATACMS.

Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery carried out a series of strikes this week against Russian military infrastructure in occupied territories. On Tuesday, they hit an auxiliary command post of Russia’s 5th Army near Novopetrykivka in the occupied Donetsk region. A logistics warehouse associated with Russia’s “Rubikon” center was also struck near Vasylivka in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Additional attacks targeted an ammunition and logistics depot near Pryazovske in Donetsk, as well as another ammunition warehouse close to Oleksandrivka in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian forces also hit a Russian repair base in Yakymivka, Zaporizhzhia region.

A day earlier, Ukrainian troops attacked Russian command infrastructure in Donetsk, striking a command-and-observation post and a drone control center near Udachne, along with another drone command post near Pokrovsk. According to the General Staff, the full extent of Russian casualties and damage is still being evaluated. It confirmed that ATACMS missiles were used in the latest operation.

In a statement on Tuesday, the General Staff said Ukrainian forces will continue systematically targeting Russian command centers, supply networks, and repair facilities to weaken Moscow’s capacity to sustain offensive operations.

ATACMS, a U.S.-made surface-to-surface ballistic missile, is launched from HIMARS or MLRS platforms and can reach targets at distances of approximately 165 to 300 kilometers. The system is intended to strike high-value objectives such as command posts, airfields, and ammunition depots deep behind enemy lines.

The General Staff described the strikes as part of efforts to undermine Russia’s war capabilities.
